ABOUT

Ivan Gette is a Berlin based artist whose abstract paintings embody rare emotional depth and refined sophistication.

IVAN GETTE IS A BERLIN BASED ARTIST WHOSE ABSTRACT PAINTINGS EXPLORE EMOTION BEYOND WORDS.

Each painting captures a moment that cannot be described or reproduced, something real, layered and deeply human in its mix of simplicity and complexity.
Born in Siberia and shaped by a life between cultures, Ivan builds a bridge between people and places, creating an international dialogue between art and viewer.

ARTIST BIO

Ivan Gette was born in Siberia and moved to Germany at a young age. Growing up between cultures shaped his perspective and his need to express what cannot be said in words. His early influences in skateboarding, graffiti and hip hop taught him to see his surroundings differently, to stay free, to play, to push himself and to step beyond comfort in order to discover something new. Over time this evolved into his own visual language of abstraction, guided by emotion and instinct. His work reflects his travels, encounters with people and cultures, and his desire to create an honest dialogue through colour. Each painting is part of his search to understand life as it is, raw, complex and real. Ivan’s paintings have been exhibited internationally, including at Parallel Vienna and Art Miami during Art Basel, and are part of private collections in Germany, Spain, the United States, India, the Netherlands, Austria, the United Arab Emirates, France and Monaco.

In 2022, he founded Notagallery, an unconventional gallery approach that is the home for creativity, designed to connect emerging artists with art, music, and culture. Since its founding, the gallery has exhibited and opened its doors to more than 500 national and international artists, establishing a platform that is collaborative, experimental, and authentically driven.

ARTIST STATEMENT

“I paint because words don’t go far enough. Colour does.”

Each painting begins as a response to a moment and grows through movement, emotion and intuition. Every piece is unique. It cannot be described or reproduced, because it captures a state of mind that exists only once. Through layers of color and texture, I translate what I experience into something that can be felt. I do not paint to explain. I paint to connect. My paintings are not about decoration or trends. They are about truth and presence, a conversation between myself, the work and the viewer. Each painting is an invitation to look closer and to feel something real.
